Formerly known as the Glasgow Moat House the hotel was sold and was refurbished in 2006. The hotel has fifteen floors and over 280 guest rooms. There are parking facilities for up to three hundred cars however there is a daily charge for its use. The hotel is ideal for business and leisure travellers and has its own health and fitness centre which includes pool, whirlpool, sauna as well as a steam room. For location the Crowne Plaza can’t be beaten if you are attending a conference, fair or a pop concert as the hotel is located next to the SECC (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre) and the Clyde Auditorium (known locally as the Armadillo) The new BBC Headquarters are located just across the river and are easily accessible via one of the two foot bridges next to the hotel. For the shoppers who just can’t get enough the Braehead shopping centre is located a short taxi ride away. During the Summer months you can also walk along the riverside for about twenty minutes towards the city centre and catch the Pride of the Clyde shuttle boat service to Braehead.
